Solutions to Editing Problems

Through our advocacy, programs and research efforts, ACES strives to offer real solutions to the issues in the editing industry. Current efforts include:

• Ongoing work on the issue of plagiarism and fabrication, stemming from the April 2013 National Summit to Fight Plagiarism and Fabrication that was organized by ACES and sponsored by 10 journalism organizations.

Research related to online editing.

A study sponsored by ACES used reader perceptions of quality to measure the effects of editing on real articles produced for a Web-first environment.

ACES has also convened a panel of professors to connect our members to research relevant to their careers.

ACES teamed up with journalism schools by establishing the ACES Award For Research On Editing. A study of how social media editors do their jobs was the winner of the inaugural award in the summer of 2012.
