Eleven seats on the Executive Committee of the American Copy EditorsSociety are up for election, including those of all five officers.Nominees are required to be full members of ACES.
All full members of ACES in good standing as of Feb. 1, 2007, areeligible to vote and will receive ballots in the mail.Ballots must be returned by mail and postmarked nolater than March 12, 2007. Please note the new mailing addresson the ballot, and be sure to read the ballot for additional mailinginstructions.
Terms will be three years for the president, vice president/conferencesand the top two vote-getters for non-officer seats on the ExecutiveCommittee. The other seven winners will be awarded two-year terms.
Members of the Executive Committee shape the policy of the societyand take on responsibility for projects and routine tasks. Officershave additional duties, as outlined in the bylaws at www.copydesk.org.ACES operates by virtue of the voluntary efforts of itsmembers, and anyone seeking a seat on the Executive Committee mustbe willing to spend a few hours each week on the business of the organization.Tasks can include, but aren’t limited to, researching topics, contactingsources, organizing meetings, making phone calls, sending e-mails, writingproposals and newsletter articles, working on surveys and fund raising. Members of the Executive Committee also are expected to attend the nationalconference and other periodic meetings, as well as take part in a monthlyconference call.

ELECTION SCHEDULE:
Dec. 28, 2006: Postmark deadline for members to submit signednomination forms. Nominations postmarked after Dec. 28 will be disqualified.
Feb. 1, 2007: Ballots and candidate biographies to be mailedto full members in good standing whose dues are paid up as of Feb.1, 2007. Voting will be conducted by U.S. mail. No faxed, e-mailedor phoned votes will be accepted. Members must include their namesand return addresses on the mailing envelope so that membership can be validated.Envelopes lacking complete return addresses will be destroyed unopened.
March 12, 2007: Postmark deadline for voting. Ballots postmarkedafter March 12 will be disqualified. Election winners will be notifiedafter March 19.
April 19, 2007: Election results to be announced at the nationalconference in Miami.
