Alex Cruden, former chief of the copy desks at the Detroit Free Press, is a charter member of ACES and a member of its Education Fund board. He has led more than 160 workshops and seminar sessions for newspapers and professional organizations across the country, including sessions at every national conference. Since taking a buyout from the Free Press, he has been a freelance editor and writer for non-newspaper clients.
