Board of Directors

Four officers and 8 directors oversee and represent the ACES Education Fund, an independent 501(c)(3) corporation which grew out of the American Copy Editors Society in 2004.

Those who serve are elected by the boards of both organizations. The directors hold meetings quarterly by teleconference and once a year during the National Conference. Over the years, the board has raised almost $150,000 for the Fund, with more than 90 percent earmarked for support of the five scholarships that have been granted annually in recent years.

Although there is some overlap between the membership of the Education Fund and the main ACES board, the Education Fund is independent of the main organization, to allow the separation of activities relating to the conferences and other business from the business of the Education Fund. As president, Merrill Perlman serves as an ex officio member of the society’s main board.
