Is it just me, or is there some momentum right now on why editing is so important? If it's not my imagination, how can we capitalize on that and make sure the grups see why they need us?

Personally, I think we need to make sure our bosses see these things, and make sure THEY are ready to forward them, and more important, use them in the discussions that are going on now in the publisher's office.

My boss is protecting the turf, but he truly is doing it for all the best reasons. I just want to give him some ammunition in those budget talks.

Whenever I make a save that I know would otherwise result in a published correction, I make sure my managers know. Obnoxious? Yes. Tooting my own horn? Definitely. Smart job-saving strategy? Seems more likely than not.
