Professors Who Also Freelance

Postby polinjun22 » 6:46 pm 05/06/2010

A journalism professor wrote the cover story for an alt-weekly. The piece lacked cohesion. It lacked flow. It did not need heavy editing; just some simple reorganization. Nothing was rewritten. The professor later announces on Facebook that the publication "butchered" his piece, and then links to the unedited version.

Is it me or this is a horrible example to set for his students? I find this behavior unprofessional and childish.

Thoughts?

I think the person needs to seriously rethink what they are all about. A reasoned, point-by-point discussion about where the person differed and why might well be a teaching moment. A rant is a waste.
