Chapters help ACES extend to the grass-roots level its mission of educating and empowering copy editors. Chapter workshops and other activities are open to ACES members and nonmembers alike.
ACES continues to work to get copy editors to gather as chapters in their parts of the country. Since we launched our campaign to increase ACES chapters, copy editors have expressed interest in Portland, Boston, Indiana, California, suburban Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Boston editors are “gathering” on Facebook, under the group “BostonEditors.” Members of one of ACES’ oldest chapters, the Southeast chapter, are also talking again on Facebook, under the group “ACES Southeast Charter Chapter.”
ACES also has several long-standing student chapters, including active chapters at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Missouri.
