The Financial Writer’s Stylebook is now the SABEW Stylebook, and members of ACES can buy the newest edition at the same 20 percent discount offered to the members of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. In addition, 10 percent of the revenue is donated to the ACES Education Fund. And shipping is free.
To order, click here. Apply the coupon code ACES at checkout and the discount will apply automatically.
The stylebook has grown by 100 pages and 900 entries from the 2010 edition, and ACES Executive Board member Christine Steele has been a valuable contributor to the new edition. The book’s authors are ACES (and Ed Fund Board) member Bill Cloud and Chris Roush, a business journalism professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who started the project.
In addition, there are some other pretty painless ways to help the ACES Education Fund raise money for scholarships. One is to buy stuff from Brian White’s Talk Wordy to Me blog, a portion of which goes to the Ed Fund.
Another is to replace your privacy-invading Google search box with GoodSearch, which uses the Yahoo search engine. Select your charity as the American Copy Editors Society Education Fund, and every time you use GoodSearch the Ed Fund gets a penny. You can also use GoodShop, which offers coupons for you to save from many major retailers, with a percentage kickback to the Ed Fund for things you buy. (The Ed Fund made $327.87 with only 12 people signed up; imagine if everyone did! It might reduce the annoying pleas at the Friday night banquets!)
Of course, you can also donate items to the silent auction (and buy other things!), or just give us cash. And, if you’re coming to New Orleans, you can also tour the French Quarter, with your entire $30 cost going to the EdFund.
